Cultural Dos and Taboos
1. A handshake is an acceptable form of greeting.
2. Dress is casual. Beachwear should only be worn at the beach or pool.
3. Note that Portuguese etiquette has influenced much of the country's social conventions.
4. Do not photograph military or government structures. It's always best to ask permission before photographing people.
5. Expect to haggle in the market.
