Cultural Dos and Taboos


1. A handshake is an acceptable form of greeting.

2. One should never point at anyone.

3. Casual but modest dress is fine.

4. One should always give the utmost respect to the elderly.

5. There are specific restrictions placed on who and what can be photographed. One should avoid photographing the Royal Family or their residences. It is polite to always ask locals permission to be photographed.

Note:  As of 2018, Swaziland underwent a name change and was to be known as Kingdom of Eswatini. The people of this country will thus be identified as Emaswati.
